Finance
In our finance unit we learned how to create balance sheets
from scratch. The only program we used was Excel and in it we learned how to
insert formulas to create equations without manually putting them in ourselves.
We learned how to make accurate balance sheets and how to write all the months
of the year/grades without typing them in. We also learned how to create graphs
from the data we plotted. In our Future Life project, we learned the skills of
looking for our own houses/cars/and lifestyle and plotting them in a budget
spreadsheet. In the accounting unit, we learned about concepts in
accounting and the difference between a bookkeeper and an accountant. We
learned what each job does and what benefits there might be for each job. We
learned the accounting equation and applied our skills to make it in Excel with
given information.
Future Life Project
The purpose of the future life project was to allow us to determine what it cost to live a fake life and having to pay all the fees. We had to research the housing bills, car bills, and how much to spend on the daily needs. I learned how to carryover the numbers and how to calculate the remaining money after I paid the fixed expenses and my income money. I believe that this project is super useful for the future because almost everyone will need to know how to create a balance sheet to determine how much money you have. It is helpful in knowing that you are not in debt and it gives us a look at how to calculate these costs in the future.
Chart Assignment
The purpose of the chart assignment was to introduce us to Excel and how to use it. I learned how to put in the months of the year and grades without typing them in manually. We learned how to create graphs from the inputted data. Excel is really important to use because it can create so many things from a spreadsheet and it helps to show other people your information.
Balance Sheet Quiz
This balance sheet quiz was to test us on our ability of using word. I previously learned how to use functions and equations so that I wouldn’t have to manually calculate them myself. I find that it is a very useful skill because if there is a long list of numbers that needs to be added up, I can find the sum very quickly using the “Sum” function. We also learned how to create a proper balance sheet and how to determine the assets, liabilities and owner’s equity. The accounting equation assisted us in doing so. I had to create 3 balance sheets and they all demonstrate the skills I learned in Excel.
